The Man Who Played the Violin

Do we perceive beauty?
I believe that it is rare that a person will truly recognize beauty for what it is. Beauty is subjective; what might seem priceless and valuable will appear worthless and a waste of time to another. Because people are so caught up in their busy schedules and personal interests, it is often that one might miss out on some of the most beautiful things in life.
Do we stop to appreciate it?
As I mentioned above, I fear that, especially in this country, the United States of America, most people do not have time to appreciate beauty. They will continue on, because they do not care, because they are 'too buy,' because they have other things on their mind. They will not pay attention to beauty they do not expect to be there, to beauty that isn't standing right in front of their face with a title. So, I'm afraid that, no, most people do not stop to appreciate beauty, to 'smell the flowers.'
Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?
Most people will not recognize talent in an unexpected context. For a street musician, it is often that a person will look down on them, will view that person with a vision tainted with pity. Whether that benefits them with a couple dollars thrown into their instrument case, unless this person has received some title, some official recognition for their talents, I doubt that most people in the world will appreciate something simply for sounding nice.
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?
Humans miss a lot of things in life. That is unavoidable. As we carve a path, there are a million other paths that branch off and end in different results. And the older you get, the more you miss. You're expected to get a job, and you're put in the mindset that you need to make money and you need to be almost perfect. We lose a lot to that; I'm sure that most people in this world are unhappy, in truth. In America, especially, there are incredibly high numbers of people who take antidepressants. And we're sad because we are so busy. We spend so much time on things that will ultimately be worthless, but there is nothing else we can do. We give up on dreams, we cast aside beauty, and we lose our appreciation for life as the world expects more from us. That is what the unforgiving world demands. And, because of that, unfortunately, we will miss some of the most important things, in the end. No one is going to remember the amount of money they made a month years from now; but a chillingly and masterfully played musical piece may haunt a person until their dying breath.
